Our programs start in January 2023. Tutoring will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Tutoring is not provided on school holidays and other non-instructional days. Reader’s Way Tutoring helps children learn to read. We motivate children with games and other fun learning activities. We teach phonics to build skills and confidence. Our students learn to read with success and fluency.

Students are provided with a mix of one-on-one and small group tutoring. Our tutors are certified teachers. Mentors provide additional help and are specially trained and supervised by certified teachers. Tom Kertes is the volunteer executive director and lead tutor. He has over 15 years of experience teaching reading.

Tom is a certified teacher and an early childhood educator. He has taught Preschool, Kindergarten and Grade 1. He was an Instructor at Seneca College in Early Childhood Education in Toronto. Tom also was Policy Advisor to Ontario’s self-regulatory College of Early Childhood Educators. He was also an early childhood educator at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
